Likewise, if your previous saves are from 0.2, they should not be able to load.

If your data is from 0.2, no. But from now on, all save file will be compatible with future versions.
Why, why do you keep doing this? I'm getting tired of starting over from the beginning...
the new content can be accessed without going through the whole game, but this will be the last time you will need to completely restart the game.

It looks like the inventory update broke some of the old saves. Is there a way to update it without starting over?

Pretty sure that the saves are backed up in the Local Storage so when you update the game it should automatically transfer. 👀
